The meaning of the protection class RC3:

The number of burglaries rose in Germany in 2013 by 3.7% to 149,500 cases. Above all, burglary thefts  during daytime hours increased by 5.8%. In fact, early 44% of burglaries in Germany now occur during the day. According to police criminal statistics in 2013, however, the proportion of completed cases has also declined steadily. The police attribute this to the improvements in the private security measures and the corresponding preventive action by the police. Over 40% (2013) of burglaries in Germany are thwarted in the attempt stage also thanks to security installations.

Security installations firmly connected to the building are the essential prerequisite for effective burglar protection. They slow down or prevent burglaries or cause more noise to be made during the burglary. These products are recognised by the specified classification.

Here is how you choose the right product:
There are various national and European standards for burglary prevention. Among other things, they regulate requirements, test methods and classification for the determination the level of resistance. The standard defines resistance classes, resistance times (the time a product can withstand a burglary), offender types.

RC2 (WK2), resistance time: 3 minutes:
The amateur burglar, also using basic tools such as a screwdriver, a pair of pliers and a wedge, attempts to break into closed and locked building units.

RC3 (WK3), resistance time: 5 minutes:
The routine burglar is better equipped and tries by means of a second screwdriver, various hand tools (small hammer, manual drill, etc.) as well as a crow bar, to gain access due to the stronger leverage. The drill equipment can be used to defeat vulnerable locks and security devices.
